%X The present article aims to discuss the geotechnologies potentialities for priority areas identification for preservation, using as object the wetland areas in the region known as Brejo Grande, combined with the possibility of a better understanding of the nature dynamics, correlating to previously studied events. Currently, in the region, projects are being planned that interfere directly in the study area. An example is the possible implantation of a highway called Contorno do Mestre Álvaro, with the purpose of reducing the heavy traffic from the trucks that travel in the BR-101 highway, that crosses the urban stretch of the city of Serra, ES. The Brejo Grande area has environmental peculiarities and it is located entirely in an ecological corridor besides being susceptible for flood events during periods of heavy rains. This study also intends to understand the operative dynamics of surface waters and the reflections in its surroundings, as well as to list and elucidate the possible consequences of the implantation of the road axis in the region, thus constituting a study of extreme relevance in the aid of the decision-making and territorial planning. It was sought to analyze, in a geographic point of view, the particularities of the study area and demonstrate how geotechnologies are configured as important technical apparatus, assisting through spatial information and pointing to environmentally fragile areas that require preservation.
